Über uns - So ist POCASIO entstanden

Our Story

We know how much organization, time and nerves a house build costs – because we built it ourselves. POCASIO was born from our own experiences: A software that makes the path much easier for builders.

House Construction: more Stress than Initially Thought

When building our own house, we realized that the biggest challenges are not in the foundation or shell, but in the organization.

Comparing offers, keeping an eye on costs, sorting documents: All of this costs an enormous amount of time and nerves, especially if you have no experience. We realized how little you know when building your first house and how easy it is to lose track.

We also know from our own experience that you have to react to additional costs – in our case through own work 😅

In 2014, we started to deal with the topic of property. Since we couldn’t find an existing property that we liked 100%, we started to deal with the topic of house construction.

At that time, we started by defining a rough framework. How much money do we have and how much house can we afford? The first small Excel list was created…

The more concrete the planning became, the larger our Excel list became. The first rough notes soon became detailed tables with dozens of entries. Suddenly we had over 50 items – from the property to the shell to windows, doors and heating.

Every new decision meant another line, every change resulted in several adjustments. A small overview had become an increasingly complex construct.

Then it went with us, as probably with many: We paid the first 5, 6, 7 invoices and already threw the question into the room for the first time, what is the current status of the individual loans.

That’s why we then added our financing framework or our financing concept (equity, KfW loan, annuity loan) to the Excel list and started to assign each expense to a loan.

During the construction of the house, we then realized that we need various tools to have a clean organization. For example, we were constantly looking in our e-mails for the list of entrepreneurs in order to step on the toes of some trade or to clarify things.

In addition, there are various to-dos that arise during construction: Have contracts checked, choose a washbasin or address the construction manager about the scratch on the window frame, you don’t want to forget anything.

After many strenuous months, the time had finally come: We were able to move into our house. But we also took away an important realization – the house construction was much more stressful and chaotic than it should have been. And it doesn’t stop there…

After the house handover, things get serious again, we sent our construction manager about 20 e-mails with defects. Mostly nothing dramatic, but we still lost the overview. How often we went through the e-mails to check which defect has been fixed and which is still open…

After building our house, we thought a few times “That has to be more elegant”. And a few months later, the idea for POCASIO was born.

Inspired by our own experiences, we developed a first concept: A digital platform that supports builders in keeping track of their own finances.

As it always is with the “You should do that sometime”: Nothing happened for three years 😅

We picked up the idea again, refined the concept and created first ideas of what it could look like. In addition to cost control, we wanted to offer a holistic solution for construction projects – from builders for builders. So specifically adapted to the needs of private individuals.

Finally the time had come: The first version of POCASIO went online. For the first time, builders were able not only to digitally record their construction costs, but also to evaluate them in a structured way.

That was the starting signal. The first 100 builders quickly used POCASIO and helped us to optimize the platform with their feedback. In addition to new construction, the topic of renovation became more relevant in the following years.

Today, more than 4,000 builders use POCASIO to better plan their projects, keep costs under control and build with less stress.

What once began as a simple Excel list has now become an established platform – and we are proud to accompany builders in their largest project every day.
